Common Annotation Errors

← Back to ChoraleBricks

This page highlights common annotation errors and explains how we resolved them using Sonic Visualiser.

Missing note events/onsets

  • Instruments with soft onsets often result in missing note events
  • Delete the note event
  • Redraw the tne note events and align them to the waveform

Octave errors

  • Especially at note beginnings, the F0 might be off by an octave (e.g., stemming from onset noises)
  • We typically correct the annoation by adding a "Melodic Range Spectrogram" and set the scale to dB^2
  • First, remove the wrong F0 trajectory
  • Second, redraw the trajectory by following the peaks in the spectrogram
